Jetřichovické rocks

Jetřichovické rocks - Along the beautiful sandstone edge for the distant views

Jetřichovice - Mariina skála - Vilemínina stěna - Purkartický les - Rudolfův kámen - Pohovka - Česká silnice - Šaunštejn (a turning) - Vysoká Lípa - Dolský mlýn - the valley of Jetřichovické Bělé - Jetřichovice

Starting point: Jetřichovice;  you can arrive by bus (from Děčín or Česká Kamenice in the direction of Vysoká Lípa) or by car (from Děčín or Česká Kamenice through Srbská Kamenice and Všemily)

Parking:
in the centre of the village at the restaurant Praha, or in the small parking lot in front of the children´s recovery home

Timing:  4 hours and a half, the turning to Šaunštejn included (14 km)

Difficulty: an easy walk, leading mainly along the marked touristic trails through the rugged rocky edge up to Šaunštejn; ups and downs, somewhere steep traverses; an artificial securing on Mary´s rock, Rudolfův kámen and Šaunštejn (you can skip climbing up the top rocks of Šaunštejn)

Refresment: the restaurants, hotels and pensions in Jetřichovice and Vysoká Lípa

Sights:
* Mariina skála (Mary´s rock) - the skyline starting at the top´s shelter and spreading as far as Lužické mountains and České středohoří
* Tetřevny  - the huge rock outhangs that served as a hiding place for local people during war times and as a shelter for hunters´ watching for the wood grouses
* Rudolfův kámen - as well as  Mariánka (Mary´s rock) and  Vilemínka this hill was also named after one member of the Kinski´ family that had merit in opening the area for tourists. To the top you can get by following unsigned path (the ladders, an artificial steps, lightly exposed). But the wonderful view is worth the climbing.
* Loupežnický hrádek (Robber´s castle) -Šaunštejn (see the trail no. 2)
* Dolský mlýn (Dolský mill) - first mentioned in 1515, it was used as a mill till the end of World War II.. After 1881 when you could have used the oneway boat ride in Ferdinand´s pass, "Dolák" happened to become very popular touristic attraction. After 1945 the mill was left and started dilapidating. Nowadays its ruins are rather mysterious and ghostlike.
