Chlum
The 16 meter high view tower, Velký Chlum, is situated on the hill of the same name at the 508ms altitude. It was built in 1928 and 1929 by The Mountain Club of Bohemian Switzerland. In 1997 the view tower was rebuilt and opened to the public. It gives a nice view of Děčín and the Elbe river. You can see as far as the tops of Czech středohoří and also the German side of Saxon Switzerland. You can see Grosser Zschirnstein and Grosser Winterberg.
Basic information:
Location: Děčín
Directions: Take the bus line no. 2 to the final stop, Staré město, From there you walk across the railway crossing. Follow the red trail markers up to the Chlum view tower. To get back to Děčín you can follow the yellow trail to Boletice where you get on the bus line no. 9 or you can continue from Chlum to the ruined castle Vrabinec in Těchlovice from where you can also get bus line no. 9.
Opening hours: All day. No admission fee.
