Vlčí hora, "The Wolf´s mountain"

Not far from Krásná Lípa is Wolf's mountain at an altitude of 581 meters. On its peak there is a 16 metre high view tower of the same name.  The view from this tower is wonderful. You will not be disaapointed. To the south you can see the tops of the Lužické mountains (Luž, Studenec and Jedlová). To the south-west you can see Růžový vrch - , the dominat feature of Czech Switzerland. You can also see the mesas in Saxon Switzerland and when the weather is nice you can see as far as Krkonoše.

A local mountaineering club first built a wooded cottage there in 1887 then a year later they started construction on a quadrilateral brick tower. It was opened on 19th May 1889. Since then it has been rebuilt. After World War II this view tower and others in the region avoided devastation because, with luck, they remained in private possession. Nowadays the view tower is the possession of the town Krásná Lípa. The nearby cottage is still private property so tourists can only use the tables and benches to relax. The nearest refreshment is in the village of Vlčí hora.

Basic information:

Location:  4 kilometers northwest of Krásná Lípa

Directions: From the centre of the village, Vlčí hora, follow the red tourist markers to Vlčí hora. The trail is not difficult except the final steep climb to the top of the mountain. The trail is about 2 kilometers long.

Opening hours:  October to April: Saturday, Sunday and national holidays   10:00 to 15:00
May to September: Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 to 18:00 and Sunday and national holidays 10:00 to 15:00.
Christmas Eve and New Year´s Eve: closed.

Admission fee: Adults 15,- Kč, child aged 6 to 15 yrs, soldiers, retired people, students and member of KČT  8,- Kč
