Brtníky

Village description

Brtníky

The first mentions of the village date back to 1346. This picturesque village is situated in the middle of  meadows and fields in the altitude 415 m and in the border of the National Park Bohemian Switzerland and Lužické mountains. The region of Brtníky is very interesting place and worth to visit. You can find many touristic and cyclist trails leading to many places in the national park and its surrounding. Due to its location you can also visit the german part of the park Saxon Switzerland. You can cross the border at the check-point meant for pedestrians and cyclists. You should definitely visit the view towers Vlčí hora, Dymník, Tanečnice from where you can have a wonderful view of the deep woods of the national parks as well as the downy scenery of Šluknovsko. In winter when it is a nice weather you can see the ice-falls Velký sloup in the valley of Vlčí stream and also the well-known fairies´ cave hidden in Kyjovské valley. Near by there are the ski areas in Jedlová and Horní Podluží where you can enjoy night skiing.
