Doubice

Doubice is situated in a romantic valley surrounded by the woods in the north-east of Chřibská. The beginning of the village is connected with discovering the old glass making factory in 1995  in the wood in the east of Doubice.  According to  the archaeological researches its foundation dates back to the turn of the 14th and 15th century.  Sometime at the turn of the 15th and 16th century Old Doubice was found and its beginning is connected with the mentioned glass making factory.  The factory needed lots of wood for its production. On grubbing areas the settlers started to settle and so another and another houses were built. New Doubice came into being in the 18th century.  For living the people worked in the woods, made the threads and processed the cotton.
At the turn of the 18th and 19th century the robber Karel Stuelpner lived in the area of the Bohemian Switzerland. He was such a local Robin Hood. As a memory of him there is a Stuelpner shelter - the hiding place near by Sokolí hill.  In the south of the village you can find the rock outhang called Sweedish camp that was used as a shelter for local people during the 30 years´war.

In the north-east of the village you can visit an interesting Vápenný hill with the wilderness area Vápenka that is remarkable for a common appearance of 5 different rock types . Due to various geological basis there are many plant species and precious bat kind lives here.  Doubice attracts many visitors not only because of its pleasant atmosphere and beautiful nature but also because of many touristic and cyclist trails that take you to the magic places of the national park. In winter the area is suitable for lovers of cross country skiing.

Except the tourism you can also attend the rock climbing courses that we can  arrange for you.  You can as well go horseback riding, play tennis or go shooting in the local shooting-range. In hotel Jef you can go spinning or relax in sauna. In summer you can use the nature swimming pool behind the hotel Jef. Various cultural activities are held in the village e.g. Concerts, balls, lectures and other performances.

Doubická barn

You can use Doubická barn for stabling the horses in modern equipped area. You can order a training course of different length or just a ride to the country, or also a carriage ride.  Many various activities,  popular all around,  are held here during the whole year, e.g. Hubertova ride, Horses day,  western riding competition etc.
