Horní Podluží

Village description

Horní Podluží

Horní Podluží is situated very close to Jiřetín pod Jedlovou, south-west of Varnsdorf. The village was found probably in the beginning of the 15th century where the small wooden church was built in the place of today´s church of St. Catherine. In the era of industrial revolution the textile industry developed here as well as in other villages of the region and the products from the white linen staples became famous. During its history the village was joined to Dolní Podluží several times and then made independent again.
On the border of the nature preserve Světlík you can enjoy the view of the wind Dutch mill of the same name. The preserve is created mainly by the lake where you can swim. There is the education trail leading from Světlík to the Big lake with the statue of Jan Nepomucký.
Along the road to Jiřetín you can see the ski slope with the lift, the ski school and the ski rental is also the part of the resort. The length of the slope with the artificial lights and snow is about 480ms. The parking lot and the restaurant is right under the lift.
