Kytlice
The picturesque village Kytlice is spreading on the upper part of Kamenice river in Preserved landscape area Lužické mountains. It is situated in a beautiful scenery of the sandstone rocks in a picturesque valley, almost fabuluous character is given by many houses of folk architecture. Its area was originally divided by the stream into two parts when the north part belonged tothe manor of Česká Kamenice and the south to the manor of Sloup.
For a long time the life of the inhabitants was connected with the glassworks in Falknov around which the settling concetrated. The owner of the works Josef Kittel gave the village the name Kytlice. After the works were closed, the people concentrated on cultivating the glass products such as cutting, painting, sharpening and gilding. In the end of the 19th century four glassmaking factories started their production in Kytlice region, and its prosperity attracted many people to come and settle down. During the crisis in 30´s of the 20th century the glassmaking in the area degenerated and the factories were closed. After World War II. the character of the village has changed into a recreation region.
The peaceful quiet and captivating scenery of Kytlice made impression on prague´s actors, writers and scientists and many of them visited the village or still are visiting. E.g. Miroslav Horníček or Vlastimil Brodský had their cottages here, nowadays in Kytlice you can meet Petra Černocká or Pavel Landovský.
Kytlice is known for its rich cultural life. In the end of July on the football field you can visit Festival Kytlice, belonging to the series of festivals Rock For People. In the end of September in forest theatre in Mlýny, so called Mlýnské kolo takes place – it is performance of country and folk music groups. In summer regular evening performances are held here. From April to September the visitors are invited to regular Saturday disco in the cinema.
In winter you can use the skiing lift of TJ Kytlice or go cross-country skiing to the wonderful scenery. For more keen skiers there is a near-by skiarea Jedlová. In summer there is a forest swimming pool, football field, tennis courts and voleyball fields and cycling trails to the surroundings.
