Village description

Růžová

The village Růžová is situated at the foot of Růžovský hill. It belongs among the largest and the oldest villages in the region, the first mention dates back to 1352. Nowadays Růžová is the agricultural village as well as the place much-sought-for by the tourists.
The dominating feature of the village is the Church of St. Peter and Paul from 1711 that was reconsecrated by Litoměřický archbishop in 2000. Remarkable is also the windmill from 1878 standing on the hill Petřín in the south of the village. Its today´s owners rebuilt it, equipped it with stylish furniture and offer a possilibity of accommodation.
In the south of the village indians build their camp every summer. The group West Country build here the indian settlement from the time of indian wars, the stylish interiors included. The visitors get to know the family life of several indian tribes, you can look at their weapons, clothes, musical instruments, toys and animals and listen to the indian music.
The part of Růžová is also the settlement Kamenická stráň - a rural listed zone  with well preserved houses of original folk architecture.
It is also worth to visit the ruins of almost 500 years old Dolský mill where the farmers from the whole area used to carry the grain. Later it became the restaurant during the sails through Srbskokamenická pass. There are many mysterious stories told about the mill.
From the village you can climb up the Růžovský hill, the highest peak of Růžovská highlands. For its shape sometimes it is called Děčínská Fudžijama. Already during the Napoleon wars the military observation point was built here. In the end of the 19th century the tourism started to increase a lot and on the top of the hill the restaurant with the viewpoint was built. At first it was the wooden viewpoint, after it was damaged by the lightning the second wooden viewpoint was built and the third one was stone. From the viewpoint there was a breathtaking view, from its top it is said to be seen  20 viewpoints on czech and german side of the border. But even this one did not last for long, in 1931 the restaurant burnt down and the viewpoint quickly dilapidated. Since that time the top of Růžovský hill has been without any viewpoint.
But nowadays the tourists can have a beautiful view of the surrounding from the Pastevní hill in the west of the village.
The indian village is opened  1st May - 30th September, 10.00 - 17.00
